Our Doctor Meet Dr. Daniel Burgin
Dr. Daniel Burgin is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee although he moved frequently during his childhood, living all across the state of Tennessee as well as Georgia, Florida and overseas in Waterloo, Belgium. His family settled in Brentwood, Tennessee where he attended high school at Brentwood Academy. His professional education began at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL, where he was selected as the William J. Rushton Scholar, the preeminent academic scholarship awarded by the college.
He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics. While at Birmingham-Southern, Dr. Burgin was the president of the Honor Council, a member of the Southern Ambassadors, a member of the Greek community, a graduate of the Harrison Honors Program, and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. Dr. Burgin pursued his dental education at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry.
While at UAB, Dr. Burgin was an active member of the American Student Dental Association, served on a dental mission trip to Xela, Guatemala and participated in an exchange program in Tokyo, Japan.
After graduating, Dr. Burgin completed a general practice hospital dental residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. While there, he helped patients with dental emergencies and trauma, treated special needs patients receiving care under general anesthesia, and assisted the community by working with the Knoxville Regional Forensic Center to perform dental forensic identifications.
To further improve his ability to care for patients, Dr. Burgin continued his dental education by completing a three-year advanced residency in prosthodontics back at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He was selected as the chief resident of the program and also served as a teaching faculty in the dental student clinic.
Dr. Burgin is happy to be back in Big Orange Country, where he is excited to serve the Knoxville community. When not treating patients, Dr. Burgin enjoys traveling, spending time with his friends and family, and enjoying time on the lake. He is also an avid amateur baker and loves to share his creations with others.
